While the world continues to fight the coronavirus and many sports events being cancelled by the day, there is still light at the end of the tunnel as the World Matchplay remains on for now.

The tournament Is due to take place between 18th and 26th of July at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool. For now we are left in the dark to whether the event will go ahead, but here are your early odds for the second biggest event on the PDC calendar.

Michael van Gerwen is understandably the heavy favourite at this stage at 13/8, and has seemingly been putting in plenty of practice during the lockdown period.

Coming in not to far behind the world number one is two-time Grand Slam Champion Gerwyn Price, prior to the lockdown the Welshman was gathering momentum, lets hope he has the chance to keep that going in July.

2018 Champion on the seaside Gary Anderson is priced at a heavy 14/1, but form suggests he may find it difficult with so many top players finding their feet in 2020, although the form book may be ripped up by that stage.

Our outside pick for the tournament is Chris Dobey at 50/1. The Newcastle native produced a display of the year candidate at the UK Open in defeating Krysztof Ratajski, and already has a major semi-final under his belt. With the explosive nature of his game, 50/1 certainly seems tasty for the world number 21 to triumph in Blackpool.
