Michael van Gerwen will take on Peter Wright in the final of the 2020 PDC World Darts Championship as they battled through their respective semi-finals on Monday night at the Alexandra palace.
The World number one will be going into Wednesday’s final looking to win his fourth world title against a man that has a less than attractive record against him. After a further 16 maximums in his semi-final victory over Price, he needs just 15 more to set a new World Championship record.
Van Gerwen rightly goes into to the match as a significant favourite given his record in major finals, but with Wright finding a settled set of darts he may be a danger.
The pre tournament odds suggested ‘Snakebite’ was third favourite in his half of the draw behind Michael Smith and semi-final opponent Gerwyn Price, being priced at around 30/1 pre tournament.
Mighty Mike was priced reasonably around 6/5 before the tournament commenced and he is now priced at 1/3 to capture that fourth World title.
